Shelitha Robertson, a registered Democrat and former assistant attorney in Atlanta, has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison. Prior to her arrest, Robertson participated in a podcast where she emphasized her commitment to accountability. However, despite her assertions, she was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, one count of money laundering, and three counts of wire fraud.
Authorities reported that Robertson and her co-conspirators submitted fraudulent applications for the Paycheck Protection Program during the pandemic. They exaggerated the number of employees at four of her businesses and misappropriated the funds to purchase a Rolls Royce, a 10-carat diamond ring, and to make a $1,000 donation to Democrat Fannie Willis. In total, she embezzled nearly $15 million.
U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan detailed the case and the misconduct of the corrupt Democrat in a filing with the Department of Justice (DOJ). The judge noted that “Robertson allegedly stole millions of dollars in taxpayer funds meant to support small businesses during the pandemic.”
He further clarified the intended use of the loans, stating, “CARES Act loans were designed to help sustain small businesses during the pandemic, not to serve as a source of personal enrichment. We will continue to vigorously investigate and prosecute anyone who fraudulently obtains these critical funds.”
Ironically, the 62-year-old Robertson had previously made a public statement about the significance of integrity. She asserted that she would prefer to endure hardship rather than compromise her honor for a bribe, declaring, “I choose integrity and whatever else it brings. I don’t choose selling your soul to the devil… because that means I’m willing to do anything, belittle myself, and degrade myself for the love of $1.”
She further compounded her guilt by stating, “I’m not gonna do it. My integrity, what my kids think of me and how they respect me, means more to me than earning a quick dollar.”Social media users swiftly ridiculed the corrupt Democrat. One comment stated, “A Democrat prosecutor in Atlanta is currently incarcerated for embezzling $15 million in Covid relief funds. This ‘public servant’ purchased a Rolls Royce and a 10-carat diamond ring. And people actually believe Joe Biden won Georgia in 2020, receiving more Black votes than Obama? What a farce.”
Another user remarked, “Are we expected to ignore the rampant corruption occurring daily across the country within the government?” A response to this comment noted, “Georgia has already acknowledged counting non-existent ballots. Fani Willis is corrupt and has targeted Trump. The young judge is incompetent and colluding with the prosecution. And now we have this.”
Some users attempted to present a more balanced perspective. One such user commented, “I’m not claiming that Republicans are free from corruption. However, it certainly appears that many Democrats are making headlines these days. But they wouldn’t rig an election, for sure…” Another user observed, “At this point, it seems that 95% of Congress is deeply corrupt; all government agencies need a thorough overhaul, and every employee should be investigated.”
