Dodge built just 500 Challenger R/T Scat Packs like this painted in Pitch Black
- A limited-edition Dodge Challenger Shakedown sold below MSRP, despite being brand new.
- It was sold by the same dealer who recently offloaded an even rarer Demon 170 Jailbreak.
- Market demand for V8 muscle cars isn’t guaranteeing higher resale values post-production.
Even in the world of modern muscle cars, limited-run models don’t always bring big returns. Earlier this week, a low-mileage Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat King Daytona was listed for auction on Bring a Trailer but failed to sell after bidding peaked at $93,500. Now, another one of Dodge’s ‘Last Call’ specials has crossed the auction block, this time selling for $63,888. While that result isn’t awful, it still falls short of the original $69,015 MSRP.

The car in question is effectively a brand new Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack, specifically the ‘Shakedown’ edition. This was the first of seven Last Call special Charger and Challenger variants and was limited to just 1,000 examples. Half of those were Widebody models finished in Pitch Black, like the one sold here.
Given that the Challenger has been killed off and there’s no return in sight for the fabled V8-powered American muscle car (yet), some would have expected this example to sell for a premium over its original price, but that didn’t happen.
Special Styling, Familiar Hardware

Dodge did not make any mechanical upgrades, and the custom touches were only visual. They include a Mopar Shaker hood, custom R/T badging, a red accent stripe running over the hood and roof, and beefy 20-inch wheels. This car was sold with just 13 miles (21 km) under its belt after only recently being acquired by the selling dealer. There’s no word on how much the dealer paid for the car, but we’d be surprised if they managed to profit from it.
Interestingly, the dealer who sold this car also sold the only and only Panther Pink Challenger Demon 170 Jailbreak earlier this month. That car traded hands for a remarkable $450,000, making it almost exactly 7 times as valuable as this R/T Scat Pack Shakedown.
The same seller is also parting ways with a Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody King Daytona, virtually identical to the one that failed to sell just a few days ago. It is one of just 300 units produced and has been driven just 26 miles (42 km). At the time of writing, bidding on it was sitting at $95,000.
