Democrats have frequently accused President Donald Trump and other Republicans of harboring racist and xenophobic sentiments; however, the truth appears to be quite the contrary. Since the president’s inauguration in January, it has been Democrats who have directed such accusations towards Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), as well as First Lady Melania Trump, as reported by Fox News.
On March 22, during an anti-DOGE demonstration in Los Angeles, Democratic Representative Maxine Waters made alarming remarks regarding the First Lady, suggesting that she may not be a legal citizen.
“When he [Trump] discusses birthright and aims to overturn the constitutional provision that grants citizenship to those born in the U.S., even if their parents are undocumented, he should perhaps scrutinize Melania first,” she stated, despite the fact that Melania immigrated to the United States as an adult and was not born here. “We are uncertain about the status of her parents’ documentation. Perhaps we should investigate that,” she added.
Waters, known for her controversial statements, failed to acknowledge that Melania became a U.S. citizen in 2006.
Additionally, at a rally on February 4, Democratic Representative Janelle Bynum from Oregon likened Musk and DOGE to the British forces that burned the Capitol during the War of 1812. “They always warned us about the British coming to attack the city, reminding us of the destruction they caused, and we must never allow that to happen again. Now, we face Trump and his billionaire entourage. They may not be British this time, but one of them is South African. Yet, they have returned,” she remarked.
Some Democrats expressed even more aggressive and overtly xenophobic sentiments towards Musk, with New York Democratic Representative Nydia Velázquez bluntly stating that Musk should “return to South Africa.”Yesterday was quite intriguing. I viewed a video featuring an interview with Elon Musk, during which he remarked that Italians ought to remain in Italy and Chinese individuals should stay in China. My inquiry for Elon Musk is, what exactly are you doing here in America? she stated at a rally outside the HUD Department.
